Nearly 20 Years Served — Support a Presidential Commutation for Craig Petties

The Issue

Craig Petties has been incarcerated in the Federal Bureau of Prisons since January 2008 and has now served nearly two decades in federal prison.

After accepting responsibility for his past actions and pleading guilty to federal racketeering charges, Craig was sentenced to nine life sentences — a punishment that many believe warrants careful review in light of the time already served and the transformation he has demonstrated during his incarceration.

This campaign does not seek a pardon. Instead, it respectfully asks for a presidential commutation of sentence — a lawful and established process that recognizes rehabilitation, accountability, and the possibility of redemption.

Key Facts

• Nearly 20 years served in federal prison
• Sentenced to nine life sentences, far exceeding many others connected to related cases
• Demonstrated rehabilitation through participation in two of the Bureau of Prisons’ flagship programs: Threshold (faith-based) and Challenge
• Completed over 100 educational courses during incarceration
• Father of nine daughters and grandfather to five grandchildren
• Strong family support system ready to assist with successful reintegration under supervised release

Demonstrated Rehabilitation

During his incarceration, Craig Petties formally disengaged from gang involvement and committed himself to education, self-improvement, and personal transformation.

Through programs such as Threshold and Challenge, he has worked to build a life grounded in accountability and positive change. These programs are specifically designed to help incarcerated individuals confront their past choices and develop the tools necessary to lead productive lives after release.

Throughout this time, Craig has also remained a consistent presence in the lives of his children, maintaining regular communication and mentorship despite the barriers of incarceration.

Why Clemency Matters

Presidential commutation does not erase responsibility. Rather, it recognizes that long sentences should allow room for demonstrated rehabilitation and meaningful change.

After nearly two decades behind bars, Craig Petties’ case represents an opportunity to acknowledge accountability while allowing a path forward under structured and supervised release.

What We Are Asking

We respectfully urge President Donald J. Trump to grant a commutation of sentence for Craig Petties, allowing him to continue his rehabilitation and reintegrate into society under supervised release.
